Dr. Derek Kim and your dentist team at Austin Heights Dental Centre, are excited to offer patients experiencing gum recession the Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique. This procedure is minimally invasive and can be an alternative to traditional gum grafting.
Why would I need the Chao Pinhole Surgical Technique?
We may recommend this procedure if you have moderate to severe gum recession. You may be experiencing gum recession if your gums have noticeably pulled away from your teeth, exposing more of the body of the tooth. First, Dr. Kim will examine your teeth and gums to identify your problem areas, and explain to you the realistic results you can expect from the procedure.
Why does gum recession occur?
Gum recession can happen naturally over time and may be caused by a number of different things; from rough brushing, to genetics to gum disease.
What can I expect during my treatment?
During your appointment, Dr. Kim will use a specially designed instrument to gently guide the gums over the receded part of the tooth. There are no incisions and you may soon notice a significant change in the appearance of your gums.
